Located near the south
eastern corner of Italy's
Emilia-Romagna region, the Torre
Fantini claims a hilltop position amid the rolling green
landscape bordering the Foresti Casentinesi-a national
park extending southward into Tuscany. In fact, this
property was at one time part of Tuscany! Torre Fantini
is an old farm tower belonging to the family of the same
name. This family still lives in the Palazzo Fantini
located nearby the Torre1 km. away. The magical garden
surrounding the Palazzo, a 17th century residence,
belongs to the association of GreatItalianGardenswww.grandigiardini.it and is
open to the public for tours and for courtyard concerts
and plays during the summer. The village of Tredozio is
deliciously quiet, yet harbours a number of inviting
restaurants-particularly the Mulino di San Michele (in an
old mill). A ten-minute's walk takes one from the tower
to the village centre and the conveniences of grocery,
bakery, bar and bus station. |

Drive on this Highway A14 for 35-40 Km. Exit at Faenza and follow signs to the center (Centro) of Faenza. Call the housekeeper to alert her that you will arrive in 25 minutes. Next follow signs to Modigliana and Tredozio. It is 28 Km. from Faenza to Tredozio. When you have passed the sign of Tredozio, go ahead for about 1km and stop at the beginning of the village in front of the CARABINIERI Station (police station). Giuliana, the housekeeper, will meet you there and take you to the Torre Fantini. |

Each of the four double bedrooms is attractively furnished in a refined rustic style (some have high-beamed ceilings), and provided with a satellilte TV and refrigerator. A bathroom with shower accommodates each bedroom. There is also a brand new suite, one double bedroom, living room and a small kitchen. Guests are served a fresh breakfast each morning in Fantini's communal dining room. (Other meals are taken in local restaurants or picnic-style.) Torre Fantini is centrally heated; laundry service is available. Three hundred meters from the residence one finds a public tennis. From May to September swimming pool (above ground) is open. |

Information
on the Area: |
Benefiting from a long history of prosperity, Emilia-Romagna is imbued with the spirit of fine living and boasts many exceptional Renaissance palaces and a particularly rich culinary heritage (lasagna, tortellini, Parmesan cheese and balsamic vinegar are just a few of many delicious regional innovations). A number of enjoyable excursions are easily undertaken from Torre Fantini. Faenza, with its world-famous ceramics museum and production house, is about 30 km away, and the splendid medieval fortress at Brisighella-focus of an annual medieval festival-is half as far. A drive of 50 km toward the Adriatic finds one in Ravenna, in the presence of the world's finest Byzantine mosaics outside of Istanbul, and from here it's just minutes to the wonderful resorts of the coast. The distinguished city of Bologna, 75 km northwest of Fantini, offers a delightful urban experience and, remarkably, the Tuscan capital of Florence is almost as close. |
